The Curriculum

Our school has extensive experience in running international education programmes and has successively introduced and offered the IGCSE, AP, A-Level, and IB curriculum systems since 2009. This diverse curriculum provision caters to students’ needs for diversified curriculum choices, allowing them to select the academic pathways that best suit their individual strengths and study goals.

A team of professional in-school teachers provides robust support for students’ preparation for standardized tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, and SAT. The school not only offers targeted courses for these exams but also arranges and guides students to take the relevant standardized tests, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the admission requirements of overseas universities.

Graduates from our international programme possess excellent English communication skills and a thorough comprehension of international curricula. Moreover, they retain the solid foundational knowledge in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry that is typical of Chinese students, as well as a profound understanding of Chinese culture. Equipped with these advantages, students can apply to renowned universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries with their academic transcripts and standardized test scores such as ACT and TOEFL.

  • AP

AP (Advanced Placement) is a college-level academic programme administered by the College Board, designed for high school students (typically aged 15–18) in the US and international schools worldwide. It offers university-level courses and exams that allow students to earn college credits, advanced placement, or both, at most colleges and universities in the US and many institutions across Canada, the UK, Australia, and other countries.

    Core Structure

Our school offers over 20 AP courses across multiple disciplines, with each course culminating in a standardized exam held annually in May. Students can choose to take as many AP courses and exams as they wish, based on their academic abilities and interests. The courses are taught at the high school level but follow college curricula, challenging students with rigorous content and critical thinking tasks.

    Grading System

AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, where 5 represents "extremely well qualified" and 1 indicates "no recommendation". Most colleges and universities grant credit or advanced placement for scores of 3 or higher, though competitive institutions often require 4 or 5 for credit in high-demand subjects.

  • A-Level Courses

A-Level, short for Advanced Level, is a prestigious two-year academic qualification primarily offered in the United Kingdom and its overseas territories, as well as in many international schools worldwide. It is widely recognized by universities across the globe, including top institutions in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and other countries, serving as a key prerequisite for undergraduate admissions.

    Core Features

A-Level courses are designed to provide in-depth study in a small number of subjects, allowing students to focus on their academic strengths and interests. Typically, students choose 3 to 4 subjects in their first year (AS Level) and continue with 2 to 3 of them in the second year (A2 Level), culminating in final examinations that determine their overall grades. The grading scale ranges from A* (highest) to E (pass), with U (ungraded) for those who do not meet the pass standard.

    Subject Range

A-Level offers a diverse array of subjects across multiple disciplines, including:

    • Sciences: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science

    • Humanities & Social Sciences: History, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Politics

    • Arts & Languages: English Literature, Modern Languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Mandarin), Art and Design, Music, Drama

    • Vocational-Related: Business Studies, Accounting, Media Studies, Travel and Tourism

  • IB

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, established by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in 1968, is a globally recognized pre-university academic framework designed for students aged 16 to 19 (the IB Diploma Programme, DP—its core offering). It is widely adopted by international schools worldwide and highly valued by universities in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and other countries as a rigorous qualification for undergraduate admissions.

    Core Structure

The IB DP requires students to study six subjects across six subject groups, alongside three core components that foster holistic development:

    • Subject Groups: Languages and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, The Arts (students may substitute an additional subject from other groups if they opt out of the Arts).

    • Core Components: Theory of Knowledge (TOK, an interdisciplinary course exploring the nature of knowledge), Extended Essay (EE, a 4,000-word independent research paper), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS, which involves creative projects, physical activity, and community service).

    Grading System

Each IB subject is graded on a scale of 1 to 7 (7 being the highest), with up to 3 additional points available from the TOK and EE components. The maximum total score for the IB Diploma is 45 points, and a minimum of 24 points is typically required to earn the diploma.
